Chassidut on Tehillim – How to Pray Properly
Tehillim 39:8
וְעַתָּ֣ה מַה־קִּוִּ֣יתִי אֲדֹנָ֑׳ תּ֝וֹחַלְתִּ֗י לְךָ֣ הִֽיא
– “Ve-atah mah kiveiti Adonai, tochalti lekha hi” – (and now, what have I hoped for, O L-rd? My hope is in You).
Rabbi Zusha explains this pasuk as follows: “When a person asks the Almighty for sustenance, an accuser may arise in the Heavenly Tribunal and argue that this person is not worthy of special care. But when a person prays for ‘trust in G-d and reliance on Him alone,’ no one will dare object. And together with trust in the Creator’s mercy, everything else will come as well.”
