Sefer Shemot

  1. Shemot 13:19

A segula against all forms of sorcery and evil—this verse contains the hidden Name of HaShem, אעמ, which protects against all such negative forces.

- “Vayikach Moshe et-atzmot Yosef imo, ki hishbia hishbia et-bnei Yisrael lemor: pakod yifkod Elokim etchem, vehe'alitem et-atzmotai mizeh itchem” -

(And Moses took Joseph’s bones with him, for Joseph had adjured the children of Israel, saying: “G-d will surely remember you, and you shall take my bones up from here with you.”)

2. Shemot 14:19–21

The three verses describing the splitting of the Yam Suf are regarded in Jewish tradition as a segula for finding a shidduch and for parnassah, since these two things are granted with as much difficulty as the splitting of the Yam Suf.

Each verse consists of 72 letters. 72 is the gematria of the word “Chesed,” resulting in a threefold Chesed.

Three times 72 equals 216, the gematria of the word “Gevurah.” Through threefold Chesed, the most severe judgments can be overcome. The prophet Habakkuk, whose name has a gematria of 216, was revived specifically through the power of these three pesukim.

וַיִּסַּ֞ע מַלְאַ֣ךְ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים הַהֹלֵךְ֙ לִפְנֵי֙ מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּסַּ֞ע עַמּ֤וּד הֶֽעָנָן֙ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ - “Vayisa mal'ach ha-Elohim haholech lifnei machaneh Yisrael vayelech me'achareihem, vayisa amud he'anan mipneihem vaya'amod me'achareihem” -

(And the angel of G-d who went before the camp of Israel moved and went behind them. And the pillar of cloud that had been before them moved and stood behind them.)

- “Vayavo bein machaneh Mitzrayim uvein machaneh Yisrael, vayehi he'anan veha-choshech vaya'er et-halayla, velo karav zeh el-zeh kol-halayla” -

(And it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was a cloud and darkness for the Egyptians, while it illuminated the night. And one did not approach the other all night.)

- “Vayet Moshe et-yado al-hayam, vayolech Adonai et-hayam beruach kadim azah kol-halayla, vayaseim et-hayam lecharavah vayibake'u hamayim” -

(And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the L-rd drove the sea back with a strong east wind all night, turning the sea into dry land; and the waters split.)
