Tehillim 92 – Korach's Name in Tehillim
Tehillim 92:13
- "Tzadik katamar yifrach"... – (the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree) –
The final letters of the pasuk – צַדִּיק כַּתָּמָר יִפְרָח - (the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree) – form the name קרח, indicating that ultimately, Korach will be righteous.
It is also written: "and they descended, and all that belonged to them, alive into the underworld" – the word "alive" – חיים – also contains a hint of righteousness. Thus, Korach's primary level is above, in Gan Eden, where there is life, while his katnut is in the underworld.
("The Waters of the Jordan," Rabbi Tzvi Nisanzon)
Rabbi Ben-Zion Mutzafi teaches that an explanation of the pasuk from Tehillim צדיק כתמר יפרח – whose final letters form Korach's name and describe him as a tzadik – can only be found in connection with the fact that Shmuel HaNavi, a descendant of Korach, completely rectified and atoned for his ancestor, and raised him to Gan Eden. Therefore, the story of Korach is also a story of hope: everything that has been damaged can be repaired.
