The Maggid of Trisk on the Eighth Day of Hanukkah
The Maggid of Trisk, son of the Maggid of Chernobyl (zechuto yagen aleinu), author of the book «Magen Avrum,» which contains his Divrei Torah (delivered by him over the course of a single year through the Divine power that spoke through his voice). The author of «Sefat Emet» said that, in order to obtain this book, an avrech had to pawn even his tallit and tefillin.
In this book the Maggid of Trisk writes that on the final day of Hanukkah, the final sealing of the decree that began on Rosh Hashanah takes place. All of Israel will be inscribed for a good and favorable year.
How do we know this?
Hanukkah – חנוכה - is a notarikon of the words: חתימה כל האדם נעשה ונגמר - “the inscription of every person is finalized,”
as well as a notarikon of the words:
ח נעשה נס והתבטלו כל הצרות - “a miracle occurred and all troubles were nullified—on the eighth day.”
