Zohar on Tehillim 144 - Ashrei

Tehillim 144:15

"Ashrei ha'am shekakhah lo, ashrei ha'am sheHa-Shem Elokav" - (Happy is the people who are thus blessed; happy is the people for whom the L-rd is their G-d).

Rabbi Yosei said: Happy is the people whose portion is such. Happy is the people whom the Almighty chose from among all the nations—the idolaters—and brought into His portion, and blessed with His blessing—the blessing of His Name, as it is written: “For they are the offspring blessed by the Almighty” (ישעיה סא, ט), blessed by the Almighty—mamash, blessed by His Name.
Behold, the Almighty assigned all the other nations of the world to appointed angels who rule over them. But the Jewish people became the portion and lot of the Almighty, and He is truly united with them. He gave them the holy Torah so that they might unite with His Name. Therefore it specifically says: “And you who cleave to the Almighty” (Deuteronomy 4:4), and not to one of the angels of the other nations.

(Zohar, Sulam commentary, translated by Rabbi Tzvi Nisan-zon).
