The Ramak—Rabbi Moshe Cordovero (may his merit protect us) related that an elderly man taught him a segula for bad and negative thoughts (the Shelah ha-Kadosh says that this was Eliyahu HaNavi, who would reveal himself to the Ramak; “Sha'ar ha-Otiyot,” letter ל): reciting the following pasuk from the Torah: אש תמיד תוקד על המזבח לא תכבה — “Esh tamid tukad al ha-mizbe'ach lo tikhbeh” — (the fire shall burn constantly on the altar and shall not be extinguished). (Vayikra 6:6) 3. Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk, in the book “Tzetel Katan” (6), cites the following segula for bad thoughts: recite the following pasuk from the Torah 7 times: כִּי תֵצֵא מַחֲנֶה עַל אֹיְבֶיךָ וְנִשְׁמַרְתָּ מִכֹּל דָּבָר רָע — “Ki teitzei machaneh al oyevecha venishmarta mikol davar ra” — (when you go out encamped against your enemies, you shall beware of everything evil). (Devarim 23:10) 3. The Mishnah Berurah (98:2) cites the following segula for bad thoughts in the name of the Shelah ha-Kadosh. One should recite the following pasuk from Tehillim 3 times and run the right hand across the forehead while reciting the pasuk: לֵב טָהוֹר בְּרָא לִי אֱלֹקִים וְרוּחַ נָכוֹן חַדֵּשׁ בְּקִרְבִּי — “Lev tahor bera li Elohim, veruach nachon chadesh bekirbi” — (create a pure heart for me, O G-d, and renew a steadfast spirit within me).
