Rabbi Chaim Pinto (may his merit protect us) used this segula in 19th-century Morocco to save the Jewish community from an epidemic during Pesach, and today his descendant, Rav Yeshayahu Pinto, is sharing it with us.
After the Seder, take some of the charoset that was on the table and dip it into Kos Eliyahu HaNavi (the cup of Eliyahu HaNavi).
Then use this wine-soaked charoset to anoint the area beneath the mezuzah and recite three times:
- “Ve-lo yiten ha-mashchit lavo el bateichem lingof” - (and G-d will pass over this entrance and will not allow the destroyer to enter your homes to strike you). (Exodus 12:23)
[This is analogous to the way the Jews smeared blood on their doorposts and saved their homes during the Egyptian plagues.]
Recite twice:
- “Vihi noam A-do-nai Eloheinu aleinu umaaseh yadeinu konenah aleinu umaaseh yadeinu konenehu”. (Tehillim 90:17)
Recite three times:
Tehillim 91
1. Yoshev beseter Elyon, betzel Shaddai yitlonan.
2. Omar la-A-do-nai, machsi u-metzudati, Elohai evtach bo.
3. Ki hu yatzilcha mipach yakush, midever havot.
4. Be'evrato yasech lach, vetachat kenafav techseh, tzinah vesochera amito.
5. Lo tira mipachad layla, mechetz ya'uf yomam.
6. Midever ba'ofel yahalokh, miketeb yashud tzohorayim.
7. Yipol mitzidecha elef, u-revavah miminecha, elecha lo yigash.
8. Rak be'einecha tabit, veshilumat resha'im tir'eh.
9. Ki atah A-do-nai machsi, Elyon samta me'onecha.
10. Lo te'uneh elecha ra'ah, venega lo yikrav be'aholecha.
11. Ki malachav yetzaveh lach, lishmorcha bekhol derachecha.
12. Al kapayim yisa'uncha, pen tigof ba'even raglecha.
13. Al shachal va-feten tidrokh, tirmos kefir ve-tanin.
14. Ki vi chashak va'afaltehu, asagvehu ki yada Shemi.
15. Yikra'eni ve'e'enehu, imo anokhi vetzarah, achaltzehu va'achabdehu.
16. Orekh yamim asbi'ehu, ve'arehu bishuati.
Rav Yeshayahu Pinto says that this is the most powerful segula for protecting Jewish homes from epidemics and every kind of harm.
