The Sages relate that the Maharal of Prague (Rabbi Yehudah ben Betzalel Loew) had the custom of reciting the song of «Haazinu» (a parashah in Sefer Devarim) every day.
He said that this was a “special segula” for success and longevity.
The holy Maggid of Mezeritch instructed every Jew to learn the song of «Haazinu» by heart, so great is its significance.
What makes it special?Rabbi Yeshayahu Pinto (shlita) reveals that Moshe Rabbeinu, who wrote Sefer Devarim, taught us that Sefer Devarim contains 955 pesukim.
There are 955 gates leading to the Heavenly Throne, and there are 955 keys with which to open them.
900 of the 955 keys belong to the archangel Metatron—these correspond to the 900 pesukim of Sefer Devarim from its beginning through the chapter of «Haazinu». This angel can raise our prayers only as far as the 900th gate.
The remaining 55 gates are under the authority of Hashem and are opened through reciting the Song of «Haazinu».
From the 38th pasuk of the chapter of «Haazinu» to the end of Sefer Devarim there are exactly 55 pesukim—the ones that open all the Gates of Prayer.
The Sifrei states: «Great is the significance of this song—it speaks of what is happening now, what happened in the past, and what will happen in the future; of this world and of the World to Come».
A hint of this is found in the Torah itself, as it is written: «Moshe came and recited all the words of this song in the hearing of the people». (Haazinu 32:44)
The word «all» (כָּל – kol) hints that this “song” includes (כוללת – kolelet) everything “prepared for them”—that is, everything that will happen in the future.
The first 27 words of Haazinu encode the Holy Name through which Moshe Rabbeinu spoke to Am Yisrael and succeeded in reaching their hearts.
If Shir HaShirim corresponds to the sefirah of Chesed, then Haazinu corresponds to the sefirah of Daas.
Whoever recites Haazinu has the Tzelem of Hashem with him.
This segula is for Rachamei Shamayim (mercy from Heaven) and for the hamtakat ha-dinim (sweetening of the judgments).
The entire Song of Haazinu consists of Holy Names…
Within the Song of Haazinu lies the “shoresh neshamot” (root of the souls) of all Jews. When a person recites it, he performs tremendous spiritual work—removing all that is harmful from Am Yisrael.
Haazinu contains 42 pesukim, corresponding to Hashem’s 42-letter Name, to «Ana Bekoach», and to the 42 journeys of the Jews in the wilderness.
Haazinu—a chapter encoding Jewish names
A tradition has been preserved concerning how the great Ramban had a disciple named Avner, who abandoned the faith of his fathers and became an apostate. By his own admission, his departure from faith began with a lesson by the Ramban on the weekly portion of Haazinu, when his teacher said that everything that would happen in the future was encoded in this chapter.
Avner did not believe this, and then began questioning other foundations of the Torah as well. Eventually he converted to Christianity and, as a result, rose rapidly, becoming a prominent nobleman.
Many years later, on Yom Kippur, Avner ordered his servants to bring the Ramban to him. When the sage arrived, his former disciple slaughtered a pig in front of him, roasted it, and ate it. He then mockingly asked the Ramban how many Torah prohibitions punishable by karet (spiritual excision) he had violated.
The Ramban answered: four prohibitions. Avner argued that he had violated not four but five, but soon had to acknowledge that the Ramban was right. He then confessed that the first impulse toward his abandonment of the Torah had been his teacher’s words about the song of Haazinu, which he had not believed.
«I still maintain exactly that. Ask me about anything, and I will show you», said the Ramban.
«If so, then my name must also be encoded there», Avner suggested.
The Ramban then recited before him the verse אַפְ<ן>אֵיהֶם אַשְׁ<ן>בִּ<ן>יתָה מֵּאֱ<ן>נ<ן>וֹשׁ זִכְ<ן>רָ<ן>ם – «af’eihem ashbitah me’enosh zikhram»—«I will cast them away; I will blot out their memory from mankind». (Devarim 32:26)
«The third letters of each word», explained the Ramban, «form your name, Avner (אבנר)».
When Avner saw his name in the parashah of Haazinu, he wept and repented.
«Is there a remedy for my affliction?» he asked. «Everything is already stated in this verse», the teacher explained. Soon afterward, Avner boarded a sailing vessel alone, without sailors or oars, and sailed wherever the wind carried him. Nothing more was ever heard of him». (Sefer HaDorot, 4954)

8. When the Most High gave nations their inheritance, when He separated the children of man, He set the boundaries of peoples according to the number of the children of Israel. 9. For the portion of the L-rd is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance. 10. He found him in a desert land, in a desolate, howling wasteland; He surrounded him, cared for him, guarded him as the pupil of His eye. 11. As an eagle rouses its nest, hovers over its young, spreads its wings, takes them, and carries them on its pinions, 12. so the L-rd alone guided him, and no foreign god was with him. 13. He set him upon the high places of the land, and he ate the produce of the fields; He fed him honey from a rock and oil from a flinty boulder, 14. curds of cattle and milk of sheep, with the fat of lambs and rams of Bashan and goats, with the choicest wheat; and you drank the blood of grapes, wine. 15. Yeshurun grew fat and kicked; you grew fat, thick, and sleek, and he forsook G-d who made him and spurned the Rock of his salvation. 16. They provoked Him with strangers; with abominations they angered Him. 17. They sacrificed to demons, not to G-d, to gods they did not know—new ones, recently arrived, whom your fathers did not fear. 18. You forgot the Rock who gave you birth; you forgot G-d who brought you forth.

19. The L-rd saw this and rejected them, angered by His sons and daughters. 20. He said: I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be. For they are a fickle generation, children in whom there is no faithfulness. 21. They provoked Me with a non-god, angered Me with their vanities; so I will provoke them with a no-people, anger them with a vile nation. 22. For a fire has kindled in My anger and will burn to the depths of the underworld; it will consume the earth and its produce and set the foundations of the mountains ablaze. 23. I will heap evils upon them; I will exhaust My arrows against them. 24. Wasted by famine, ravaged by fever and bitter destruction, I will send the teeth of beasts against them, together with the venom of creatures that crawl in the dust. 25. Outside, the sword will bereave; inside, terror—both young man and maiden, infant and gray-haired man. 26. I said: I would annihilate them, erase their memory from mankind. 27. Were it not for the enemy’s wrath, I would fear lest their oppressors misunderstand, lest they say: Our hand has prevailed, and not the L-rd has done all this. 28. For they are a nation devoid of counsel, and there is no understanding in them. 29. If only they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern their end. 30. How could one chase a thousand, and two make ten thousand flee, unless their Rock had sold them and the L-rd had delivered them?

31. For their rock is not like our Rock, yet our enemies are judges. 32. For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, and from the fields of Amorah; their grapes are grapes of poison, and their clusters are bitter to them. 33. The venom of serpents is their wine, the cruel poison of cobras. 34. Is this not stored up with Me, sealed in My treasuries? 35. Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, for the time when their foot will falter; for the day of their calamity is near, and what is destined for them hastens. 36. For the L-rd will judge His people and relent concerning His servants when He sees that their strength is gone and none remains, bond or free. 37. He will say: Where are their gods, the rock in which they trusted? 38. Who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations? Let them rise and help you; let them be a shelter over you! 39. See now that I, I am He, and there is no god with Me. I kill and give life; I wound and I heal, and none can save from My hand. 40. For I raise My hand to heaven and say: As I live forever, 41. when I sharpen My flashing sword and My hand grasps judgment, I will bring vengeance upon My enemies and repay those who hate Me. 42. I will intoxicate My arrows with blood, and My sword will devour flesh—for the blood of the slain and the captives, from the heads of the enemy’s leaders. 43. Sing joyfully, nations, with His people, for He will avenge the blood of His servants, bring vengeance upon His oppressors, and atone for His land and His people.

44. Moshe came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he and Hoshea son of Nun. 45. Moshe finished speaking all these words to all Israel. 46. He said to them: Take to heart all the words with which I testify against you today, so that you may charge your children to carefully observe all the words of this Torah. 47. For it is not an empty word for you; it is your life, and through this word you will lengthen your days on the land into which you are crossing the Jordan to possess it. 48. The L-rd spoke to Moshe on that very day, saying: 49. Ascend this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nevo, in the land of Moav, opposite Yericho, and see the land of Kena'an, which I am giving to the children of Israel as a possession. 50. Die on the mountain to which you are ascending and be gathered to your people, as Aharon your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people. 51. Because you trespassed against Me among the children of Israel at the waters of Merivat Kadesh, in the wilderness of Tzin, because you did not sanctify Me among the children of Israel. 52. For from a distance you will see the land, but you will not enter it—the land that I am giving to the children of Israel».

May it be Your will, O L-rd, my G-d and G-d of my fathers, that in the merit of my reciting Parashat Haazinu before You, You awaken Your mercy toward Your people, the House of Israel, and in particular fill with mercy (the name of the person, together with his or her mother’s name), so that his or her livelihood may always be found in his or her home (or, when praying for several people or a family, in the plural: their livelihood in their home), abundantly and not sparingly, through permitted means and not forbidden ones. Please provide me with my livelihood generously and with ease, without any trouble or confusion, so that I may fulfill Your will and constantly engage in Your Torah and Your service.
Please, O L-rd, have compassion and mercy on my wretched soul and on the souls of all Your people, the House of Israel, and separate us from those who go astray and lose their world through their desire for money, occupied all their days with earning a livelihood. May I rely on the L-rd alone, and know and truly believe that elevation does not come from the east, from the west, or from the wilderness. For it is not through his own strength that a man prevails. I have no ability through my own power or the strength of my hands to achieve success or wealth; everything comes from You alone. “Wealth and honor are from You, and You rule over all.” May I truly believe, with complete faith, that You can provide me with a complete livelihood easily, without any exertion, toil, or worry. May I not allow thoughts of livelihood to confuse my mind; instead, may I merit strength in faith and trust in You, blessed be You, always. Master of the universe, have compassion on me and be gracious to me; help me, save me, and deliver me from the desire for money, which is truly idolatry.
Amen; may it be so.
