(1) al naharot bavel sham yashavnu gam-bakhinu bezakhrenu et-tzion

(2) al-aravim betokhah talinu kinoroteinu

(3) ki sham sheelunu shoveinu divrei-shir vetolaleinu simcha shiru lanu mishir tzion

(4) eikh nashir et-shir-Ado-nai al admat nekhar

(5) im-eshkachekh yerushalim tishkach yemini

(6) tidbak-leshoni lechiki im-lo ezkerekhi im-lo aale et-yerushalim al rosh simchati

(7) zekhor Ado-nai livnei edom et yom yerushalim haomrim aru aru ad haysod bah

(8) bat-bavel hashduda ashrei sheyshalem-lakh et-gemulekh shegamalte lanu

(9) ashrei sheyochez venipetz et-olalayikh el-hasala

(1) By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept, When we remembered Zion.

(2) Upon the willows in the midst thereof We hanged up our harps.

(3) For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, And our tormentors asked of us mirth: ‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion.'
