Tehillim 127

Transliteration

(1) shir hamaalot lishlomo im-Ado-nai lo-yivne vayit shav amlu vonai bo im-Ado-nai lo-yishmar-ir shav shakad shomer

(2) shav lakhem mashkimei kum meacharei-shevet okhlei lechem haatzavim ken yiten lidido shena

(3) hine nachalat Ado-nai banim sakhar peri habaten

(4) kechitzim beyad-gibor ken benei hanurim

(5) ashrei hagever asher mile et-ashpato mehem lo-yevoshu ki-yedabru et-oyvim bashaar

Translation

(1) A Song of Ascents; of Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, They labour in vain that build it; Except the LORD keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain.

(2) It is vain for you that ye rise early, and sit up late, Ye that eat the bread of toil; So He giveth unto His beloved in sleep.

(3) Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD; The fruit of the womb is a reward.

(4) As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of one's youth.

(5) Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them; They shall not be put to shame, When they speak with their enemies in the gate.

א שִׁ֥יר הַֽמַּֽעֲל֗וֹת לִשְׁלֹ֫מֹ֥ה אִם־יְהוָ֤ה ׀ לֹא־יִבְנֶ֬ה בַ֗יִת שָׁ֤וְא ׀ עָמְל֣וּ בוֹנָ֣יו בּ֑וֹ אִם־יְהוָ֥ה לֹֽא־יִשְׁמָר־עִ֝֗יר שָׁ֤וְא ׀ שָׁקַ֬ד שׁוֹמֵֽר׃ ב שָׁ֤וְא לָכֶ֨ם ׀ מַשְׁכִּ֪ימֵי ק֡וּם מְאַֽחֲרֵי־שֶׁ֗בֶת אֹ֭כְלֵי לֶ֣חֶם הָעֲצָבִ֑ים כֵּ֤ן יִתֵּ֖ן לִֽידִיד֣וֹ שֵׁנָֽא׃ ג הִנֵּ֤ה נַחֲלַ֣ת יְהוָ֣ה בָּנִ֑ים שָׂ֝כָ֗ר פְּרִ֣י הַבָּֽטֶן׃ ד כְּחִצִּ֥ים בְּיַד־גִּבּ֑וֹר כֵּ֝֗ן בְּנֵ֣י הַנְּעוּרִֽים׃ ה אַשְׁרֵ֤י הַגֶּ֗בֶר אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִלֵּ֥א אֶת־אַשְׁפָּת֗וֹ מֵ֫הֶ֥ם לֹֽא־יֵבֹ֑שׁוּ כִּֽי־יְדַבְּר֖וּ אֶת־אוֹיְבִ֣ים בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃
