Kruspedai
Amora
Rabbi Kruspedai ben Shabtai was a 3rd-generation Amora and a student of Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai.
He is buried in Kadita, along the road from Tzfat to Meron.
According to the Arizal, Rabbi Kruspedai attained the level of a Tanna and is buried together with two unknown tzadikim in a cave that had an additional opening in its roof.
In the Jerusalem Talmud he is referred to as Rabbi Krispa.
The 3 Books of Rosh Hashanah
Rabbi Kruspedai said in the name of Rabbi Yochanan: "Three books are opened by the A-lmighty on Rosh Hashanah:
one for the wicked, one for the righteous, and one for those in between — the intermediate people.
The righteous are immediately inscribed and sealed for a good life; the wicked are inscribed for death; and the fate of the intermediate people is left undecided until Yom Kippur. Those who repent are granted life; those who do not repent are sentenced to death."
(Rosh Hashanah, 16b)
