Talmud Tractates for Healing the Body’s Organs — Segulot of Rav Chaim Kanievsky
The students of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky (shlita) compiled a list of segulot based on the advice the Gaon gave to people suffering from various ailments who sought his counsel. These segulot were selected so that the tractate or halachah being studied is connected to the afflicted organ—either by the organ’s name or by the nature of the problem. 1. Head — study the laws of donning tefillin. 2. Hands — study the Mishnah tractate “Yadayim” (Hands); extend one’s hands to the poor and give tzedakah; study the laws of netilat yadayim; study the chapter “Kol ha-Yad” (Every Hand) from the tractate “Niddah.” 3. Legs — study the chapter “Keitzad ha-Regel” from the tractate “Bava Kamma”; — study the laws of Chol HaMoed and Yom Tov. 4. Ears — study the laws of reciting Shema Yisrael; — study the laws of blowing the shofar. 5. Skin — study the chapter “Or ha-Rotev” from the tractate “Chullin.” 6. Teeth — study the tractate “Bekhorot.” 7. Muscular dystrophy — the tractate “Ohalot” (Tents). 8. Cancer — study the laws of treifah (non-kosher meat). 9. Kidney stones — study the tractate “Sanhedrin.” 10. Constipation — study the chapter “ha-Hovel” from the tractate “Bava Kamma” (which lists things that defile and soil the body); Anyone who wishes to thank the Almighty for the mercy shown to them may study the chapter “ha-Todah” of the tractate “Menachot” (Thanksgiving Offerings), in place of bringing an offering.
