Segulot for the Yahrzeit of the Great Ramak—Rabbi Moshe Cordovero
First segula:
- Studying the Ramak's (Rabbi Moshe Cordovero), of blessed memory, book "Tomer Devorah".
The Rebbe of Tzanz, the Divrei Chaim,זצ"ל, taught his chassidim (as his grandson, Rav Moshe Halberstam, זצ"ל, heard from the Satmar Rebbe, זצ"ל): "Studying the book ‘Tomer Devorah’ is a segula for many ailments and can help cure the most serious of known illnesses."
It is recommended to study "Tomer Devorah" once a week, although this book is not easy to understand. This segula works according to the principle of "midah keneged midah" (measure for measure).
In "Tomer Devorah", the 13 Divine Attributes of Mercy mentioned in Micah 7:18–20 are analyzed in detail. If a person emulates G-d's Attributes and behaves as He does—with patience, compassion, forgiveness, and so forth toward others—then Hashem will likewise treat us accordingly—midah keneged midah—and will be patient, compassionate, and forgiving.
Those who cannot study on their own can listen to video lessons.
Second segula:
- The Mekubalim teach that on the Ramak's yahrzeit (zechuto yagen aleinu), one should recite Psalm 20 of Tehillim 12 times. This is a segula from the Arizal to save the children of Israel from all troubles and their enemies.
May we merit to witness the coming of Mashiach Tzidkeinu.
Third segula:
Rabbi Moshe Cordovero advised that, in order to attain tranquility, one should go to a source of water (a river or the sea) and recite the pesukim from Tanach many times.
Tehillim 32:6
(Therefore, let every pious person pray to You when You may be found; surely the flood of mighty waters will not reach him.)
Tehillim 42:1
- "Ka-ayal ta'arog al afikei mayim, ken nafshi ta'arog eilecha Elohim"—17 times
(As a deer longs for streams of water, so my soul longs for You, O G-d.)
Tehillim 93:4
- "Mikolot mayim rabbim, adirim mishberei yam, adir bamarom Ado-nai"—17 times
(Stronger than the sound of mighty waters, than the mighty breakers of the sea—Ado-nai on high.)
(Based on a video lesson by Rabbanit Iris Odani Elyashiv (New York) and Rav Yisrael Yakovov.)
