Tehillim for All Problems According to the Manuscript "Shimush Tehillim"
"Shimush Tehillim" is an 11th-century manuscript authored by Hai ben Sherira Gaon האי בר שרירא, better known as Hai Gaon האיי גאון. He was a medieval rabbi of Babylonia - Gaon of the Talmudic Academy of Pumbedita in the early 11th century. "Shimush Tehillim" was found in a reference source in the Cairo Genizah in the 11th century. The sefer "Shimush Tehillim" describes the kabbalistic use of individual chapters and verses from the Book of Tehillim for preventive and healing purposes. Many of the greatest rabbis have relied on this treatise, indicating which psalms to recite in which situations.
"Shimush Tehillim" is mentioned in the "Teshuvot" of the Rashba (413), of Rabbeinu Chida, and elsewhere. There are numerous examples cited in the Talmud and other sources regarding the use of verses from Tanach to ward off demons and the evil eye, against bad dreams, against the effects of drinking water left uncovered at night, as well as other more serious misfortunes. Verses were used to ease the pain of childbirth, as protection from danger on the road, from fierce dogs, from bleeding and wounds, and from fire and fever.
