A Segula Niflaah (a wondrous segula) with Tehillim 27 in Elul, from ancient sources
We all know the well-known segula of the Arizal: to say Tehillim 27 twice a day throughout the month of Elul, until Hoshana Rabbah (the day the final verdict is issued).
We know that the power of this psalm lies in the fact that the Holy Name of Hashem is mentioned in it 13 times, and that with each utterance of that Name one of the 13 Gates of Rachamim is opened for a Jew, and all the mekatregim (the accusing angels) fall back.
We also know of the words in this Tehillim that correspond to the festivals:
– “Ori” refers to Rosh Hashanah,
– “Yishi” to Yom Kippur,
– “Ki yitzpeneni beSukko” to Sukkot.
And that the word “Elul” itself is encoded in the penultimate pasuk of the psalm: לולא “lulei” – “Elul” – אלול.
But few know of a very beautiful segula with this psalm, preserved from the ancient Mekubalim.
Before reading Tehillim 27, take the key to the front door of your house or flat, hold it tight in your right hand, and begin reading Tehillim 27.
When you reach the 4th pasuk, press the key to your face with both hands and, having said the pasuk:
– “Achat sha'alti me'et Ado-nai, otah avakesh” – (One thing I ask of the L-rd, that alone I seek),
stop, and silently (in a whisper) ask for the one request that matters most to you. Then continue reading the Tehillim.
Eyewitnesses say that many received an answer to their requests by Rosh Hashanah.
