Tehillim 130 – The Hidden Meaning

Psalm 130 is mentioned in the Sefer Yetzirah, and Jacob Avinu and Yosef HaTzadik studied from this book. On the day Jacob sent the brothers to check on Yosef, they were studying Tehillim 130 and, not by chance, threw him into a pit: “Shir Hama'alot mima'amakim kera'ticha Ado-nai” – (A Song of Ascents. From the depths I called to You, G-d). It is especially good to recite this prayer when one is at the lowest point, and it is also good to recite it during the Ten Days of Repentance. According to the tradition of the Mekubalim, the Arizal composed Psalm 130 as Tikkun Ha-Pgam Ha-Mishpacha Be-Avon Niddah. It is good to recite it for 40 days in the morning before Shacharit and at night before going to sleep, before Kriat Shema. It is also good to undertake to recite it throughout the year. Psalm 130 corresponds to the 10 sefirot and the 10 depths of the earth. The Song of Wheat – Chita Psalm 130 – Tikkun Ha-Chita – is the song of wheat in “Perek Shirah”. When wheat is sown, the seed rots, and only afterward does a stalk emerge from it. This teaches a person that even if he is in deep distress (G-d forbid), he should pray to the Almighty, and surely the Almighty will bring him out of his troubles and make his path successful.   Segulot of Tehillim 130 according to Shimush Tehillim  1.
