The Power of Tehillim and the 150 Authors of Tosafot
Once, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev found himself in the city of Pressburg. There, he entered the home of the city's rabbi. At that moment, the rabbi was so engrossed in a difficult passage of the Talmud that, without interrupting his studies, he gestured for his guest to sit down. Finally looking up from his book, the rabbi saw a man with the appearance of a sage and asked him to help with a difficult passage in Tosafot whose meaning was completely unclear. After looking at the Tosafot, the guest began to recite Psalm 24 with great feeling. When he finished, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak gave a clear and precise answer. Astonished, the host said that this was clearly an answer from Heaven and asked him to explain the meaning of reciting this psalm. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak admitted that he had indeed merited receiving the answer from Heaven. There are 150 authors of Tosafot, and each one's soul corresponds to one psalm in the book of Tehillim. The author of this Tosafot, who had himself come from the Upper World to reveal its meaning, corresponds to the 24th chapter of Tehillim.
