B'ezrat Hashem, before Shabbat on the 9th of Kislev, Hashem granted me the merit to visit the graves of tzadikim in legendary Pressburg (Bratislava). This had been my dream ever since reading a story about Kaddish in Pressburg.
The Story of a Kaddish in Pressburg
You cannot get in without calling ahead - the memorial is opened by appointment - the caretaker speaks Hebrew, English, and Slovak (quite understandable for Russian speakers). Not many people come here - but on the same day we saw two more families.
The feelings are indescribable - within half an hour you truly feel how, from a world of Torah - a world of order - tens of thousands of Jews were swept into the meat grinder of the Shoah...Under the bridge where the memorial is located there were mass graves; the Chevra Kadisha did a great deal to preserve the memory of the Jews of Pressburg.
Romi Cohen, a native of Pressburg who lost all his relatives in the Holocaust and moved to New York, organized the reconstruction of this memorial.
May the merit of the tzadikim:
Chatam Sofer,
Rabbi Meir ben Shaul - Maharam Barby,
Rabbi Yitzchak HaLevi Landau-Dukla,
Rabbi Daniel Prostitz,
Rabbi Moshe Charif (Moshe Lvov Lemberger),
Rabbi Leib Mochiach,
Rabbi Moshe Meshulam Eiger (son of Rabbi Akiva Eiger),
and many other tzadikim of Pressburg, cherished by our people!!!
