Idra Rabba

Idra Rabba The resting place of Rabbi Yosi bar Yaakov - Kadita. The "Idra Rabba" (Great Assembly) is a section of the Zohar, a teaching that was first revealed by Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai to his students in Kadita. The Idra Rabba is a section of the Zohar inserted into the Torah portion of Naso, where Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai gathers his 9 closest disciples in order to reveal kabbalistic secrets that he had until then refrained from teaching. This section is called the "Idra Rabba" (Great Assembly) to distinguish it from the "Idra Zuta" (Small Assembly), which was revealed on the day of Rabbi Shimon's passing. According to tradition, the Idra Rabba took place near the village of Kadita in northern Israel. The members of the Idra were Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, Rabbi Elazar his son, Rabbi Abba, Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yosi bar Yaakov, Rabbi Yitzchak, Rabbi Chizkiya bar Rav, Rabbi Chiya, Rabbi Yosi, and Rabbi Yisa - their names can be found on a plaque at the grave. During the Idra, Rabbi Yosi bar Yaakov, Rabbi Chizkiya bar Rav, and Rabbi Yisa passed away. Rabbi Yosi ben Yaakov was buried at this site. The Idra Rabba is located in Kadita, in northern Israel. The holy Arizal studied Kabbalah with his students at this site, sitting in the place of Rabbi Shimon.
