Rebbetzin Kanievsky, of blessed memory, was born into a renowned family: her father was Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, already known for his brilliance from his early youth, and her mother was the daughter of Rav Aryeh Levin, who became famous as the "Rabbi of the Prisoners." Batsheva Elyashiv was especially close to her grandfather, and would sometimes tag along when he went to visit the underground prisoners, carrying the baskets of food meant for them.
In 1951 she married Chaim Kanievsky, son of the Steipler Gaon, who later became a renowned rabbi. They had 8 children. Rebbetzin Batsheva was a support to her husband in every way.
