the Prophet Zechariah - 2nd Temple
The Prophet Zechariah, grandson of the Prophet Iddo. He has his own book in Tanach (Trei Asar/The Twelve Prophets).
According to the Arizal, Rabbi Yitzchak Luria, in "Shaar HaGilgulim" (Hakdama 33), Zechariah possessed the souls of Aharon HaKohen and his sons Nadav and Avihu. He was a Kohen, but is not mentioned as such, because the primary tikkun (soul rectification) in this case is more connected to Nadav and Avihu than to their father Aharon HaKohen, according to the Arizal.
Chaggai, Zechariah, and Malachi prophesied in the second year of [the reign of] Darius. (Tractate Megillah 15a)
Zechariah prophesied in the era of the Second Temple. (Tractate Sanhedrin 99a)
Zechariah is also called Meshullam in the book of Nehemiah 8:4, because he was complete (shalem) in his deeds. (Tractate Megillah 23a)
"I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, and the men who were with me did not see it." (Daniel 10:7) This [refers to] Chaggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. They surpassed him in that they were prophets [who were sent by G-d to convey prophecies to Israel], whereas he was not [sent with prophecy], and he surpassed them in that he saw [the vision], whereas they did not. (Tractate Sanhedrin 93b; see Maharsha)
Chaggai, Zechariah, and Malachi received the traditions of the Torah from the prophets [before them]. (Avot D'Rabbi Natan I)
The Aramaic translation of the Prophets was written by Yonatan ben Uziel, who heard it [from his teachers (Maharsha, Tractate Megillah 3a)] from Chaggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
These Mishnayot were written by five great tzadikim: Shimur HaLevi, Chizkiyah, Tzidkiyah, the Prophet Chaggai, and Zechariah, son of the Prophet Iddo. [Moreover,] it was they who hid the vessels of the Temple and the treasures of Jerusalem. (Rav Pe'alim, Ben Ish Chai, p. 16)
Jeremiah was the last of all the prophets.
Did not Chaggai, Zechariah, and Malachi prophesy after him?
[Yes, but] they received these prophecies long before then. (Midrash Aggadah, Bamidbar 30:15)
With the death of the last prophets – Chaggai, Zechariah, and Malachi – the Divine Inspiration departed from Israel. (Tractate Yoma 9b)
