3 Prayers for Motzei Shabbat for a Successful Week
3 Prayers for Motzei Shabbat for a Successful Week
We are sharing with you 3 prayers that are recited at the end of Shabbat – 2 of which: “And G-d Shall Give You” and “Eliyahu HaNavi” – can be found only in the Shabbat siddur of the American publishing house “Shorashim” (referring to the transliteration and Russian translation), with whom we have cooperated for many years (over 10 years), distributing their books “Tehillim-Segulot” and “Shabbat Siddur”. And the Prayer of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak ben Sarah Sosha of Berditchev for the End of Shabbat (in Russian transliteration and translation) is published in their book “Tehillim-Segulot”.
The prayer “And G-d Shall Give You of the Dew of Heaven” is a rare prayer that contains all the blessings of the Torah given to our forefathers, or spoken by the forefathers themselves in various situations.
Recite it at the end of Shabbat and fill your home with these blessings for the entire week.
1. “And G-d shall give you of the dew of heaven”...
«Vayiten lecha ha-Elohim mital hashamayim umishmaney ha'aretz verov dagan vetirosh. Ya'avducha amim veyishtachavu lecha le'umim, heve gvir le'acheicha veyishtachavu lecha benei imecha, orarecha – arur, umevarachecha – baruch!
Ve-El Shaddai yevarech otcha veyafrecha, veyarbecha, vehayita likhal amim. Veyiten lecha et birkat Avraham. (May G-d give you of the dew of heaven and of the fat of the earth, and abundance of grain and wine. Peoples shall serve you, and nations shall bow down to you. Be a master over your brothers, and let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be those who curse you, and blessed be those who bless you.
And may G-d Almighty bless you, make you fruitful and multiply you, and you shall become an assembly of peoples. And may He give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your descendants with you, that you may inherit the land of your sojourning, which G-d gave to Abraham.
From the G-d of your father, may He help you, and with the Almighty, may He bless you: blessings of the heavens above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts and the womb. The blessings of your father surpassed the blessings of my parents, to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. May they rest on the head of Joseph, on the crown of him who was set apart from his brothers.
And He will love you and bless you, and multiply you, and bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep, in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you. You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall be no barren male or female among you, or among your livestock. And the L-rd will remove from you all sickness, and none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known will He lay upon you, but will lay them upon all who hate you).
«Hamal'ach hago'el oti mikol ra yevarech et hane'arim veyikare vahem shemi veshem avotai Avraham veYitzchak veyidgu larov bekerev ha'aretz. Ad-nai Eloheichem hirba etchem, vehinechem hayom kechochvei hashamayim larov. Ad-nai Elohei avoteichem yosef aleichem kachem elef pe'amim, vivarech etchem ka'asher diber lachem».
(The angel who redeems me from all evil, bless the lads! And let my name be called upon them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and let them multiply like fish in the midst of the land. The L-rd your G-d has multiplied you, and behold, you are today as numerous as the stars of heaven. May the L-rd, the G-d of your fathers, add to you a thousand times as many as you are now, and bless you as He has spoken to you).
«Baruch ata ba'ir, uvaruch ata basadeh. Baruch ata bevo'echa, uvaruch ata betzetecha. Baruch tan'acha umish'artecha. Baruch peri vitnecha ufri admatecha ufri behemtecha, shegar alafecha ve'ashtarot tzonecha. Yetzav Ad-nai itecha et haberacha ba'asamecha uvechol mishlach yadecha, uverachecha ba'aretz asher Ad-nai Elohecha noten lach. Yiftach Ad-nai lecha et otzaro hatov et hashamayim, latet metar artzecha be'ito ulevarech et kol ma'ase yadecha, vehilvita goyim rabim ve'ata lo tilve. Ki Ad-nai Elohecha berachecha ka'asher diber lach, veha'avatta goyim rabim ve'ata lo ta'avot, umashalta begoyim rabim uvecha lo yimsholu. Ashrecha Yisrael, mi chamocha am nosha bAd-nai, magen ezrecha va'asher cherev ga'avatecha, veyikachashu oyevecha lach, ve'ata al bamotemo tidroch».
(Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, and the fruit of your livestock: the increase of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading-trough. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. The L-rd will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck down before you; they will come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. The L-rd will command the blessing to be with you in your storehouses and in all you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land which the L-rd your G-d is giving you.
The L-rd will open for you His good treasure, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
For the L-rd your G-d will bless you as He promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow, and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.
Happy are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the L-rd, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty? Your enemies shall cower before you, and you shall tread upon their high places).
«Machiti cha'av pesha'echa vecheanan chatotecha, shuva elai ki ge'alticha. Ranu shamayim ki asa Ad-nai, hariu tachtiyot aretz, pitzchu harim rina ya'ar vechol etz bo, ki ga'al Ad-nai Ya'akov uveYisrael yitpa'ar. Go'alenu Ad-nai Tzeva'ot Shemo, Kedosh Yisrael».
(I have wiped away your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you. Sing, O heavens, for the L-rd has done this; shout, O depths of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest and every tree in it, for the L-rd has redeemed Jacob and glorified Himself in Israel. Our Redeemer, the L-rd of Hosts is His name, the Holy One of Israel).
«Yisrael nosha bAd-nai teshu'at olamim, lo tevoshu velo tikalemu ad olmei ad. Va'achaltem achol vesavoa, vehilaltem et shem Ad-nai Eloheichem asher asa imachem lehafli, velo yevoshu ami le'olam. (Israel is saved by the L-rd with an everlasting salvation; you shall not be ashamed or confounded forever. You shall eat and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the L-rd your G-d, Who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be ashamed. And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the L-rd your G-d, and there is no other; and My people shall never be ashamed. For you shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Behold, G-d is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid, for my strength and my song is Yah, the L-rd, and He has become my salvation. With joy you shall draw water from the wellsprings of salvation. And you shall say on that day: give thanks to the L-rd, call upon His name, declare His deeds among the peoples, proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the L-rd, for He has done gloriously; let this be made known throughout the earth. Cry out and shout for joy, you who dwell in Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel. And it shall be said on that day: behold, this is our G-d; we hoped in Him, and He has saved us. This is the L-rd; we hoped in Him. Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation).
«Beit Ya'akov lechu venelecha be'or Ad-nai. Vehaya emunat itecha chosen yeshu'ot chochmat vada'at, yir'at Ad-nai hi otzaro. Vayehi David lechol derachav maskil, vAd-nai imo. Az tismach betula bemachol, uvachurim uzkenim yachdav, vehafachti evlam lesason venichamtim vesimachtim migonam».
(House of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the L-rd. And your future shall be secured by the strength of salvation, wisdom and knowledge, for the fear of the L-rd is His treasure. David succeeded in all his ways, and the L-rd was with him. He redeemed my soul in peace from those who drew near against me, for many stood with me.
But the people said to Saul: shall Jonathan die, who brought about this great salvation in Israel? G-d forbid! As the L-rd lives, not a hair of his head shall fall to the ground, for he has worked with G-d this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, and he did not die.
The redeemed of the L-rd shall return, and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness. But the L-rd your G-d would not listen to Balaam, and the L-rd your G-d turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the L-rd your G-d loves you. Then the maiden shall rejoice in dance, and the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and comfort them and make them glad after their sorrow).
«Bore niv sefatayim shalom, shalom velakarov amar Ad-nai urefativ. Veruach lavsha et Amasai rosh hashalishim, lecha David ve'imecha ven Yishai shalom, shalom lecha veshalom le'ozrecha ki azarecha Elohecha, vayekabelem David vayitenem berashei hagedud. Va'amartem ko lechai, ve'ata shalom uveitecha shalom vechol asher lecha shalom. Ad-nai oz le'amo yiten, Ad-nai yevarech et amo vashalom».
(A creation of the lips: peace, peace to him who is far and to him who is near, says the L-rd, and I will heal him. And a spirit clothed Amasai, chief of the captains: We are yours, David, and with you, son of Yishai! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helper, for your G-d helps you. And David received them and made them captains of his troop. And you shall say: so may it be all our lives! Peace be to you, and peace to your house, and peace to all that is yours. The L-rd will give strength to His people; the L-rd will bless His people with peace).
«Amar Rabbi Yochanan, bechol makom she'ata motze gedulato shel HaKadosh Baruch Hu, sham ata motze anvetanuto. Davar ze katuv baTorah, veshanui baNevi'im, umeshulash baKetuvim».
(Rabbi Yochanan said: wherever you find the greatness of the Holy One, Blessed be He, there you find His humility (He is present in the great and in the small alike). This is written in the Torah, repeated in the Prophets, and stated a third time in the Writings).
«Katuv baTorah, ki Ad-nai Eloheichem hu Elohei ha'elohim v'Ad-nai ha'adonim, ha'El hagadol hagibor vehanora asher lo yisa fanim velo yikach shochad. Uchtiv batrei, ose mishpat yatom ve'almana, ve'ohev ger latet lo lechem vesimla. Meshulash baKetuvim, dichtiv, shiru l'Elohim zameru shemo solu larochev ba'aravot beYah shemo, veilzu lefanav. Uchtiv batrei, avi yetomim vedayan almanot Elohim bim'on kodsho».
(It is written in the Torah: “For the L-rd your G-d is G-d of gods and L-rd of lords, the great, mighty and awesome G-d, Who shows no favoritism and takes no bribe.” And it is written further: “He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.” It is repeated in the Prophets, as it is written: “For thus says the High and Exalted One who dwells forever, Whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, but also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and revive the heart of the contrite.” And it is stated a third time in the Writings, as it is written: “Sing to G-d, sing praises to His name, extol Him Who rides upon the clouds, His name is G-d – rejoice before Him.” And it is written further: “He is a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows, G-d in His holy dwelling”).
«Yehi Ad-nai Elohenu imanu ka'asher haya im avotenu, al ya'azvenu ve'al yitshenu. Ve'atem hadevekim bAd-nai Eloheichem, chayim kulchem hayom. Ki nicham Ad-nai Tziyon nicham kol chorvoteha, vayasem midbara ke-Eden ve'arvata kegan Ad-nai, sason vesimcha yimatze va toda vekol zimra. Ad-nai chafetz lema'an tzidko, yagdil Torah veya'dir».
(May the L-rd our G-d be with us, as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us nor forsake us. And you who cling to the L-rd your G-d are all alive today. For the L-rd will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her ruins, and will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the L-rd. Joy and gladness shall be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song. The L-rd desires, for the sake of His righteousness, to make the Torah great and glorious).
«Shir hama'alot ashrei kol yerei Ad-nai, haholech bidrachav. Yegia kapecha ki tochel, ashrecha vetov lach. Eshtecha kegefen poriya beyarkatei veitecha, banecha kishtilei zeitim saviv leshulchanecha. Hine chi chen yevorach gaver yerei Ad-nai. Yevarechecha Ad-nai miTziyon, ure'e betuv Yerushalayim kol yemei chayecha. Ure'e vanim levanecha, shalom al Yisrael».
(A song of ascents. Happy is everyone who fears the L-rd, who walks in His ways.
When you eat of the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the innermost parts of your house; your children like olive shoots around your table.
Behold, thus shall the man who fears the L-rd be blessed.
May the L-rd bless you out of Zion, and may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
And may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel)!

Translation:
The Prophet Eliyahu, who is from the town of Tishbi in Gilad.
Come quickly to us with the anointed one from the House of David!
He to whom the name of G-d is precious.
To whom peace was promised through Yekutiel (the prophet Moshe).
Who came forward and prayed, and atoned for the children of Israel.
He who lived through 12 generations.
Who, by the signs, had luxuriant hair and
was girded with a leather belt.
He who was angered by the worshippers of the sun.
Who hastened to swear that there would be no rain from the sky.
Who held back dew and rain for 3 years.
He who went off in search of peace of mind
Whom the ravens fed so that he would not die of hunger.
For whose sake the provisions in the jar and jug did not run out.
He to whose instructions people gladly listened
At whose request Heaven answered with fire
After whom everyone exclaimed: “The L-rd, He alone is G-d!”
He who is destined to be a messenger from the Heavens
Who brings all good tidings.
Who will worthily fulfill the task of turning the hearts of the children back to the fathers.
He who, to his own glory, said:
“I have been very zealous for the L-rd.”
Who rode fiery horses in the midst of a storm.
Who did not taste the taste of death and burial.
He who was named Tishbi.
Help us in the study of Torah.
Proclaim to us good news
Quickly lead us out of darkness into light.
Happy is he who saw his face in a dream.
Happy is he who exchanged a greeting with him.
For it is said: “The L-rd will give strength to His people,
The L-rd will bless His people with peace.”
It is written: “behold, I send you Eliyahu HaNavi before the coming of the great and awesome day of the L-rd.
That he may turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.”
There is also a custom to recite a passage from the book of Zohar (Tikkunim, p. 17a) “Patach Eliyahu HaNavi”.
After that the words “Eliyahu HaNavi Zachur Letov” are said 130 times.
This is a good segula for parnasa, since the gematria of this phrase equals 400, the same as the gematria of the word “parnasa”.
(Ben Ish Chai)
Also, 400 is the gematria of the phrase “ayin hara” (evil eye) – so one can have the kavanah to remove the evil eye for the entire week.
3. The Prayer of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak ben Sarah Sosha of Berditchev for the End of Shabbat
This prayer of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev was found among his manuscripts with the following note, in which he instructed:
“Let men, women and children say this request at the end of every Holy Shabbat before Havdalah, 3 times. And I am certain that good fortune will surely await them, with G-d’s help!”Prayer:
«Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak ve-Elohei Ya'akov, shemor vehatzel et amecha Yisrael ha'ohavecha mikol ra, vetehilatecha ka'asher Shabbat Kodesh ha'ahuv over hashavua, hachodesh vehashana, yavo lanu le'emuna shelema, le'emunat chachamim, le'ahavat chaverim, lidvekat ha-Bore Baruch Hu, leha'amin bishlosh esreh ikarim shelach. Translation:
G-d of Abraham, G-d of Isaac and G-d of Jacob! Save and deliver Your beloved people Israel from all troubles, for Your glory, as the holy and beloved Shabbat comes to an end – this week, this month and this year! Bring us to complete faith, to the faith of the sages, to love of our fellow, to attachment to the holy Creator, so that we may believe in Your thirteen principles and in the imminent redemption – may it come in our days – and in the resurrection of the dead, and in the prophecy of our teacher Moshe, peace be upon him.
Master of the World! You give strength to the weary. Give also to the children of the Jews who love You the strength to give thanks to You and to serve only You, and no one else, G-d forbid. So that this week, this month and this year, health, good fortune, blessing and success, kindness, long life, prosperity and help from Heaven may come to us and to all Israel. And let us say amen! (3 times)
Tehillim 91
“When Shabbat ends, a multitude of harmful spirit-armies fly about and roam the world, and so that they should not have power over the holy people, it is necessary to recite Psalm צא)(91, which is called the Song That Drives Away Harmful Spirits.”
