1. Segula for Parnassah The well-known pasuk from Tehillim 145, as a segula for Parnassah:פּוֹתֵ֥חַ אֶת־יָדֶ֑ךָ וּמַשְׂבִּ֖יעַ לְכָל־חַ֣י רָצֽוֹן׃- “Pote'ach et yadecha, umasbia lechol chai ratzon” - (You open Your hand and satisfy every living being with its desire), is directly connected to Yom Kippur as well.
The final letters of the first three words, which form one of the Names of Hashem, חתך, and influence a person's Parnassah, are also an acronym for the key words of Kaparot, the ritual we perform before Yom Kippur:ח - chalifatiת - temuratiכ - kaparati
The Mekubalim say that Kaparot contains a secret relating to Parnassah. One should take money and circle it over one's head twice (once above the head and once at chest level), while saying: “Ze chalifati, ze temurati, ze kaparati”, with kavanah for these letters, and say in one's own words that this money should serve as an atonement.2. Segula for Levattel Dinim (Nullifying Judgments) — Eating Fish at the Seudah HaMafseketThe Mekubalim recommend eating fish before Yom Kippur, explaining that the evil eye and sorcery do not affect fish, since they live underwater.Gaon Rabbi Meir Mazuz, Rosh Yeshivah of “Kissei Rachamim” (zechuto yagen aleinu), shared a beautiful segula: one should eat during one of the meals before Yom Kippur (preferably during the first half of the day, so that one will not suffer from thirst during the fast), and he revealed exactly what to eat.He explained that the word sardines — in Hebrew סרדינים — can be read as סר דינים, where סר “sar” means “master” or “ruler,” and דינים “dinim” means “judgments”—that is, “the master of judgments.”The idea is that by eating the “master of judgments,” we rid ourselves of harsh judgments, decrees, and sentences.(Translated from a lesson by Rabbanit Sarit Gez)
