Prayer Against Sorcery from Parashat Balak
Chazal teach that a very powerful segula against sorcery is to recite every morning - and even on Shabbat and holidays - the following words from the Torah, which the prophet Bilaam spoke:
כִּ֤י לֹא־נַ֙חַשׁ֙ בְּיַעֲקֹ֔ב וְלֹא־קֶ֖סֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כָּעֵ֗ת יֵאָמֵ֤ר לְיַעֲקֹב֙ וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מַה־פָּ֖עַל אֵֽל -
«Ki lo nachash be-Yaakov velo - kesem be-Yisrael, ka'et ye'amer le-Yaakov ul-Yisrael ma-paal El» - (For there is no divination against Yaakov, nor sorcery against Israel; in due time it will be told to Yaakov and Israel what G-d has wrought).
It is stated in "Ahavat Chaim" - by Chacham Menachem Menashe: "For there is no divination in Yaakov and no sorcery in Israel...". (Balak 23:23)
At first Bilaam intended to curse the Jews (chas ve'shalom), calling them by the name Yaakov, and he ordered altars to be built and offerings brought upon them. However, seeing that nothing was working, he decided to call them by the name Israel. Again Bilaam ordered altars to be built, but this did not help either. And then he said to Balak: "for there is no divination in Yaakov" - it is impossible to divine against those called Yaakov, and "no sorcery in Israel" - sorcery has no effect against Israel either.(Bamidbar, Balak 23:23, Rabbi Shlomo Baruchov)
