Parashat HaMan on Tuesday of the Weekly Torah Portion Beshalach - Segula of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov

Parashat HaMan on Tuesday of the weekly Torah portion “Beshalach,” and also every Tuesday - a segula of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov Our Sages teach that those who thoughtfully read the passage of the Torah every day describing how Ha-Shem sustained the Jewish people for a full 40 years with Man (Manna) in the waterless desert will undoubtedly be strengthened in their faith that everything comes from the Creator and that nothing is impossible for Him. In the merit of this faith, they will merit not having problems with livelihood. The Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim 1:5) writes that for parnasa (material sustenance) it is good to recite the verses about the falling of the Manna. The Mishnah Berurah says that the meaning of this is to believe that sustenance for each person comes under the personal supervision of Ha-Shem. For it is said that when the Manna was gathered, whoever gathered a lot had no more than whoever gathered less. This tells us that excessive effort does not increase income. The Jerusalem Talmud (Berachot) states: “Whoever recites the portion about the Manna is promised that his sustenance will not decrease.” The great Torah sage who lived in the 15th century, Rabbi Shimon bar Tzemach Duran, author of the book “Tashbetz,” wrote that he guarantees the truth of this. But, of course, one must not only recite the words, but reflect on them and believe with complete faith in the wonders of the Creator. Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov (may his merit protect us) taught that the portion about the Manna should be read on Tuesday (Yom Shlishi) of the weekly portion “Beshalach.” His students relate that he spent 22 years studying the Secrets of the Manna, and thanks to him, the whole world was sustained in abundance. Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov revealed that reading the passage about the Manna on Yom Shlishi (Tuesday) of the week in which the Torah portion Beshalach is read is an Et Ratzon - an especially favorable day for this segula. Why specifically the weekly portion Beshalach? — Because this portion contains the passage about the Manna. Why specifically on Yom Shlishi? — Because on the third day of Creation it is written twice “ki Tov” — (“that it is good”), and therefore Tuesday is considered an especially favorable day. The Amount of Manna Once Rabbi Kalman of Krakow asked Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh, the successor of Rabbi Mendel of Rimanov, how he chose the prayers for each day. Rabbi Hirsh answered: “I do as my teacher, may he find rest in the World to Come, instructed me. It is written about the Manna from Heaven: ‘And the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day.’ Every day certain prayers are recited, and one should focus on the meaning of those specific prayers for that specific day.” It is good to light a candle before prayer le-Hvod Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov (may his merit protect us) — and to give tzedaka according to the gematria of the word “zan” (sustenance) — 57.   The Secret of the Manna from the Torah “Vayikre'u veit-Yisrael et shemo man vehu kezera gad lavan ve'tamo ketzapichit bidvash” - the phrase “zera gad” - גד “gad” - these are the initials ג “gimel” and ד “dalet” - “gomel dalim” (one who gives to the poor). A person who gives to the poor and needy is, as it were, sowing the seed of future blessing for parnasa.   Prayer Before Reading Parashat HaMan “Yehi ratzon milefanecha Ado-nai Eloheinu ve-Elohei avoteinu shetazmin parnasa lechol amecha beit Yisrael. Uparnasati uparnasat anshei veiti bichlalam. Benachat velo betza'ar, bechavod velo bevizuy, be'heter velo be'isur. Kedei shenuchal la'avod avodatecha velilmod Toratecha, kemo shezanta la'avoteinu man bamidbar be'eretz Tziya va-Arava.” (May it be Your will, L-rd our G-d and G-d of our fathers, to provide sustenance for Your entire people, the House of Israel, and for me and my family among them. With ease and not with suffering, with honor and not with disgrace, in a permitted manner and not a forbidden one. So that we may serve You and study Your Torah, just as You sustained our forefathers with Manna in the desert, in a land parched and desolate.)

And Ha-Shem said to Moshe: “Behold, I will rain down bread for you from heaven; and the people shall go out and gather each day's portion on its day, so that I may test them, whether they will walk in My teaching or not. 2. And it shall be on the sixth day, that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be double what they gather daily.” 3. And Moshe and Aharon said to all the children of Israel: “In the evening you shall know that Ha-Shem brought you out of the land of Egypt. 4. And in the morning you shall see the glory of Ha-Shem, for He has heard your complaints against Ha-Shem. And what are we, that you complain against us?” 5. And Moshe said: “When Ha-Shem gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to the full in the morning, for Ha-Shem has heard your complaints which you complain against Him – and what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against Ha-Shem.” 6. And Moshe said to Aharon: “Say to the whole congregation of the children of Israel: ‘Come near before Ha-Shem, for He has heard your complaints.’” 7. And it was, as Aharon spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they turned toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of Ha-Shem appeared in the cloud. 8. And Ha-Shem spoke to Moshe, saying: 9. “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel; speak to them, saying: ‘At dusk you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread, and you shall know that I am Ha-Shem, your G-d.’” 10. And it came to pass in the evening that quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 11. And when the layer of dew lifted, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine, flaky substance, fine as frost on the ground. 12. And the children of Israel saw it, and said to one another, “It is manna (what is it?)” for they did not know what it was. And Moshe said to them: “This is the bread which Ha-Shem has given you to eat. 13. This is what Ha-Shem has commanded: ‘Gather of it every man according to what he can eat, an omer per head, according to the number of your people, everyone shall take for those who are in his tent.’” 14. And the children of Israel did so; and they gathered, some more, some less. 15. And when they measured it by the omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack; each one gathered according to what he could eat. 16. And Moshe said to them: “Let no man leave any of it until morning.” 17. But they did not listen to Moshe, and some left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank; and Moshe was angry with them. 18. And they gathered it every morning, each according to what he could eat; and when the sun grew hot, it melted. 19. And it came to pass on the sixth day that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one; and all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moshe. 20. And he said to them: “This is what Ha-Shem has said: ‘Tomorrow is a complete rest, a holy Shabbat to Ha-Shem; bake what you will bake, and boil what you will boil, and all that remains, lay it up for yourselves to be kept until morning.’” 21. And they laid it up until morning, as Moshe commanded, and it did not stink, and there were no worms in it. 22. And Moshe said: “Eat that today, for today is a Shabbat to Ha-Shem; today you shall not find it in the field. 23. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Shabbat, there will be none.” 24. And it came to pass on the seventh day that some of the people went out to gather, and they found none. 25. And Ha-Shem said to Moshe: “How long will you refuse to keep My commandments and My teachings? 26. See, Ha-Shem has given you the Shabbat; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. 27. Stay every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” 28. So the people rested on the seventh day. And the house of Israel called its name Man; and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like a wafer made with honey. 29. And Moshe said: “This is what Ha-Shem has commanded: ‘Let a full omer of it be kept for your generations, so that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’” 30. And Moshe said to Aharon: “Take a jar and put in it a full omer of manna, and place it before Ha-Shem to be kept for your generations.” 31. As Ha-Shem commanded Moshe, so Aharon placed it before the Testimony, to be kept. 32. And the children of Israel ate manna for forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan. 33. Now an omer is a tenth of an ephah.   Prayer After Reading Parashat HaMan “Ata hu Ado-nai levadecha, ata asita et hashamayim ushmei hashamayim, ha'aretz vechol asher aleha, hayamim vechol asher bahem ve'ata mechayeh et kulam ve'ata hu she'asita nisim venifla'ot gedolot tamid im avoteinu bamidbar himtarta lahem lechem min hashamayim umitzur hachalamish hotzeta lahem mayim vegam natata lahem kol tzorcheihem, simlotam lo baletah me'aleihem, ken berachamecha harabim uvechasadecha ha'atzumim tezunenu utefarnesenu utechalkelenu vetaspik lanu kol tzorkenu vetzorchei amecha beit Yisrael hamerubim bemilu'i uverevach beli torach ve'amal gadol mitachat yadecha hanekiyah velo mitachat yadei basar vadam.” [Next, thoughtfully recite the following prayer] “Yehi ratzon milefanecha Ado-nai Elohai ve-Elohei avotai, shetachin li ule'anshei beiti kol machsorenu vetazmin lanu kol tzorkenu lechol yom vayom mechayenu dei machsorenu ulechol sha'ah vesha'ah mishaoteinu dei sipukenu ulechol etzem me'atzameinu dei michyateinu miyadcha hatovah veharechavah velo kemi'ut mif'alenu ukotzer chasadenu umiz'ar gemuloteinu vihyu mezonotai umezonot anshei beiti mesurim beyadcha velo beyad basar vadam.”   Translation: You are Ha-Shem, You alone. You are He Who made the heavens and the highest heavens, the earth and all that is upon it, the seas and all that is in them, and You give life to them all. You are He Who has always performed great wonders and miracles for our forefathers. Also in the wilderness You rained down bread from heaven for them, and brought forth water for them from the flinty rock, and also provided them with all their needs; their clothing did not wear out upon them. So too, in Your great mercy and abundant kindness, provide us with sustenance and supply us with all our needs, and satisfy the many needs of Your people, the House of Israel. With generosity and abundance, without great toil or effort – from Your pure hand, and not from the hand of flesh and blood. [Next, thoughtfully recite the following prayer] May it be Your will, L-rd my G-d and G-d of my fathers, to prepare for me and all my household everything we lack, and to provide us with all our needs every day of our lives, and every hour according to our need, and every bone of our bones according to its vital requirement, as befits Your good and generous hand, and not according to our meager deeds, limited kindness, and scant mercy. May my sustenance and the sustenance of my household, my descendants and the descendants of my descendants, be delivered into Your hands, and not into the hands of flesh and blood.   It is good to take upon oneself the practice of reading the passage about the Manna thoughtfully every morning, together with the prayers before and after, and also to give a small amount to tzedaka.   Parashat HaMan in the format of “Shnayim Mikra ve-Echad Targum” – Aramaic Parashat HaMan in the format of "Shnayim Mikra ve-Echad Targum" - Aramaic   The Connection Between Parashat HaMan and the Blessing “Mi-Asher Shmeina Lachmo” According to the Holy Zohar Parashat HaMan and the Bracha “Me-Asher Shmenah Lachmo”   Parashat HaMan and Fish Parashat HaMan and Fish   (Compiled by the site from holy Jewish sources)
