Zohar on Tehillim 8 - The Creation of Man

Tehillim 8:5

 - "Mah enosh ki tizkerenu" -  (What is man, that You should remember him).

When the Almighty desired to create man, the angels uttered these words: "Mah enosh ki tizkerenu?"

The Almighty summoned several groups of ministering angels and seated them before Him.

He said: "I have decided to create man."

They answered Him: "May man not be held in honor" (in the precious Garment of Light).

The Almighty extended His finger and burned them.

He seated other groups of angels before Him: "I desire to create man."

They answered Him: "Who is man, that You should remember him? What are his deeds?"

He said to them: "I desire to create man in Our image, and his wisdom will surpass yours."
